The Lesson of “A Dog Biting a Tiger”: Courage is Key in Life, Sometimes Setbacks Are Good Luck

Lessons from the Animal Kingdom: Building Courage and Resilience

Life has a big philosophy, similar to the relationship between a tiger and a dog.

They say that when the tiger falls, it will be bullied by the dog. I’m sure everyone knows this story, describing a person’s dilemma when things go downhill.

Even if you have the talent of a tiger, and you used to be powerful, there are times when you have to bow down to the dog in the face of difficulties. It’s not that you can’t beat them, but you think you can’t.

Is it unfair for a dog to bully a tiger?

Actually, it’s quite fair. This is the most common thing in life. After experiencing some difficulties, you will gradually realize that there are not so many things in life that are taken for granted.

The other day, I saw a video from a zoo, let me tell you about it:

A tiger and a group of Hound dogs grew up together. The tiger had never seen the world since it was young and was kept for a long time, so it didn’t know how powerful it was.

Although the tiger looked bigger and stronger as it grew older, it was actually very timid.

In life, the tiger was often bullied by the dogs. Every time it was chased, the tiger would be so scared that it climbed up a tree. This kind of life had become a habit for the tiger, it didn’t dare to resist. Even when facing a goat, the tiger would often retreat in fear, not as brave as the dogs.

One day, a playful dog bullied the tiger again and snatched a bone from it.

The tiger couldn’t take it anymore. For that bone, it took the risk of angering the dog for the first time. Unexpectedly, with just one swipe, the tiger easily swatted the dog away, as easy as eating.

The dog rolled over several times, dropped the bone, and ran away barking, calling for help from its buddies. The tiger didn’t pursue further, it picked up the bone and walked away.

At that moment, all the Hound dogs heard the commotion and ran out, wanting to bite the tiger. Led by the leader, the dogs surrounded the tiger. They were probably discussing how to punish this guy today and let it know who’s the boss here.

The tiger was very scared, trying to hide everywhere, but eventually got cornered.

With no way to retreat and no trees to climb nearby, the tiger had to use its claws again. One by one, the dogs came over and got swatted away, the tiger became more and more aggressive, finally showing its power. It was no longer on the defensive, but took the initiative to attack. The pack of dogs dispersed in panic, never daring to come back.

The tiger might have been puzzled, realizing how powerful it was and why it had been taken advantage of for so many years without realizing its dominance.

After that, no dogs dared to tease the tiger again. Of course, the tiger was merciful and didn’t hold a grudge. They remained friends and ate together. When the keeper delivered food, the dogs let the tiger eat first, and no dog dared to snatch the tiger’s food anymore…

Sometimes, life is just like this, simple and brutal.

No matter how strong your talent is, without the courage and spirit, it’s useless. Those who don’t recognize their own strength are like useless people. At least in the eyes of others, this person is weak.

Life is like this, without being stimulated by difficulties, you won’t realize your own potential to withstand the storms you never dared to imagine.

Most things in life don’t go smoothly, nothing is perfect. If you haven’t faced challenges, haven’t sparked your potential and courage, you’re no different from a delicate flower in a greenhouse.

Just like those dogs who never encountered the tiger, thinking they were invincible and could tease the tiger. It wasn’t until they met the powerful tiger that they realized, although low-key, it wasn’t someone they could mess with, and collectively, they didn’t have the strength.

As the saying goes, don’t judge a book by its cover. When facing unfamiliar people and situations, always be humble, or you might end up in a dangerous situation you can’t handle.

The difference between people is quite significant, some are like tigers, some are like dogs, and some are like foxes. Everyone respects the strong, but truly wise individuals never underestimate the “weak,” this is the wisdom of life.

Those who look down on the “weak” have put themselves in a dangerous and embarrassing position. It’s only after being taught a lesson that they realize they are not as strong as the once considered “weak.”

Those who are good at “bullying under the guise of strength” are good at scheming, but rely on the strength of others. Once they leave this protected “circle,” all they are is just a fox. They are not that strong, they can’t even beat the dogs.

From the logical perspective of a dog biting a tiger, comparing the two, the dog’s attack is one-dimensional, while the tiger’s is three-dimensional. The dog can only bite with its mouth, while the tiger has the advantage of its mouth, claws, and body weight. No matter how you look at it, the dog can’t win.

So why is the tiger afraid? Just like in life, it might be related to the environment, not strength. It’s only when pushed to the limit that you realize how powerful you are.

As the ancients said, kill one and you’re a murderer, kill a hundred and you’re a villain, kill a thousand and you’re a king, kill until the sky is dark and the ground is bloody, eliminate all opponents to become an emperor. The person is still the same, it’s just that everyone else is cheering, bowing down.

If there’s right and wrong in life, sometimes it’s just a matter of circumstances, it has always been this way. Without experiencing setbacks, you won’t understand your own strength.

I once heard of a “bamboo spirit,” without the initial accumulation, there won’t be the long-term growth.

It’s said that there’s a kind of bamboo that grows very slowly, not even one centimeter each year for the first 4 years. But starting from the 5th year, it starts “rapid growth,” growing thirty to forty centimeters every day, reaching a meter high every two to three days. From then on, it continues to soar at a “flying speed,” getting taller with each section.

The trees that were left behind by the bamboo are surpassed rapidly, even if they try to catch up, they can’t.

Although this belongs to the magical creation of nature, there’s nothing to discuss. But for those who are attentive, isn’t this a kind of inspiration?

Life is made up of dreams, dreams should bloom with their rightful colors.

Everyone is new to this world at first, inevitably feeling a bit unfamiliar. Sometimes encountering difficulties is a good thing, it can accelerate growth.
