In today’s society, many people have received higher education, but there are also many people without manners.
You can’t judge a person’s manners just by looking at them, but it’s easy to tell if someone lacks manners by observing their actions.
Mannered individuals do things that reflect their upbringing, while those without manners do things that reveal their lack of etiquette.
Although it’s not always true, generally people without manners tend to do the following three things frequently.
Spitting Everywhere
Since elementary school, everyone is taught, “Don’t spit everywhere.”
Spitting not only affects your own image but also can harm others’ health.
Spit contains harmful bacteria that can be detrimental to others. Some people know this but still choose to spit in public.
I had a classmate who, every time we went out, would spit on the ground as soon as I heard a noise in his throat.
Initially, I advised him against it, explaining the health risks and the negative impression it gives. He promised not to do it again, but the next time we went out, he did it again.
Once, when we went to the bank to withdraw money, before we even entered, he spat on the clean entrance.
The bank staff came out and scolded him harshly.
I felt embarrassed to have such a friend. People without manners consider spitting normal, even though it is seen as impolite and lacking etiquette by others.
Insulting Others Publicly
People without manners enjoy insulting others publicly.
They think insulting others shows superiority, but in reality, it only reflects poorly on themselves.
There are always bystanders who can see through the lack of manners, even if the offender feels triumphant.
Once, I saw a young woman shopping with her child and her mother-in-law.
While trying on clothes, the child started crying, and the woman began insulting her mother-in-law in public.
Her words were so offensive that even the store staff couldn’t bear it.
After some persuasion, the woman stormed off, leaving her child behind, forcing the elderly mother-in-law, who had difficulty walking, to follow.
Although many thought the woman had the upper hand, she only revealed her lack of respect and manners.
Cutting in Line
In today’s society, everyone goes out to buy things, often requiring queuing at supermarkets.
Although signs remind people to queue up, some still cut in line.
Those who break the rules once will likely do it again in the future because their manners dictate their actions.
I knew a colleague’s friend who always cut in line, whether at a fast-food restaurant in the morning or at the department for document submission.
People without manners not only cut in line but also do so shamelessly. If confronted, they might even resort to insults.
Mannered individuals do things that reflect their upbringing, while those without manners tend to engage in inappropriate behavior. Manners are ingrained in a person’s character.
Changing bad habits is possible, but changing a lack of manners is much harder.
People prefer working with those who have manners as it makes the work easier and helps in developing one’s own manners. Working with people lacking manners is not only unrewarding but also exhausting.
Whether it’s friends, family, partners, or colleagues, everyone prefers being around those with manners.
